New RPs - 2
Become a Resource Provider
Resource Providers (RPs) are at the center of ACCESS, making research possible for the diverse community ACCESS serves. Our providers share cyberinfrastructure resources and the expertise of data experts with the researchers and scientists who request allocations. This symbiotic relationship, supported by other areas of the program, makes scientific discoveries happen.

Without RPs the ACCESS program would not exist. See which institutions and organizations are currently participating in the ACCESS program.
Why become an RP?
Participating in ACCESS allows your institution to maximize the use of its resources and offers the national research community easier access to the cyberinfrastructure they seek.
What are the qualifications to become an RP?
ACCESS currently supports the integration of allocated compute, storage, and cloud resources, of science gateways, and of online central services. ACCESS is also exploring ways to integrate new novel and advanced infrastructure.
What type of resources do RPs offer?
ACCESS Resource Providers offer a wide range of cyberinfrastructure assets and specialized support. Some of the many resources in the ACCESS portfolio include:
Compute resources – High-performance computing clusters (GPU and CPU based) accessed by logging in to front-end nodes. Researchers can install their application software and run batch computing jobs under a scheduler on these resources.
Storage resources – Data storage systems for storing and managing large amounts of data.
Cloud resources – Cloud infrastructure where researchers can launch and run virtual machines.
Specialized support – Tools to streamline your research: science gateways, hosted workflow, remote access web portal, and more.

How do I get started with ACCESS?
To integrate your resources into ACCESS, you first have to create an ACCESS account; the ID Management FAQ can help.
How do I integrate my resource into ACCESS?
ACCESS uses an Integration Roadmaps Framework to define how operators can integrate classes of infrastructure into the ACCESS environment.
Current integration options include:
Science Gateways
Websites / portals where researchers can run high-level computational science applications without having to directly interact with low level compute, storage, or cloud resources or request ACCESS allocations.

High-Performance Computing
High-performance computing clusters are used by logging in to front-end nodes, installing application software, and running batch computing jobs under a scheduler. These compute resources may include GPUs, and always provide some tightly coupled local storage.

How can RPs get involved in the ACCESS community?
There are many ways for RPs to get involved in ACCESS – as a reviewer, moderator, beta tester, mentor, and more.
RPs can also join the RP Forum – an open forum of discussion topics of interest to the RP community and the formal communication channel between RP members and the ACCESS project.
