Allocations: https://allocations.access-ci.org/

  1. ACCESS Allocation Services interfaces with the research community to facilitate requests to utilize advanced cyberinfrastructure provided by the NSF. Allocation Services provides an open, inviting and democratized allocations marketplace to easily request a range of resources to empower all research communities.

    1. There are nearly 30 different resources available to request allocations for in the ACCESS ecosystem with technologies ranging from various types of CPU, GPU and storage resources, as well as novel accelerators such as FPGAs, vector processors and composable PCIe fabrics.

  2. The open Maximize ACCESS allocations period recently ended July 15. Allocations will be moving to a semi-annual cycle for Maximize ACCESS requests with the next open window beginning Dec. 15. Maximize ACCESS is for those researchers with the largest computational and data requirements

    1. For researchers who don’t have as-substantial resource requirements, allocations can be requested 24 hours a day and 365 days out of the year in three different project types. The first two project types require nothing more than an abstract detailing the objectives, a CV from the requestor and an eligibility check.

  3. Has your use of ACCESS resources resulted in a publication? If so, please add your publication to the ACCESS publication database.

    1. This information is useful to the reviewers of your allocation requests and greatly benefits the ACCESS program and NSF by demonstrating the scientific impact of these resources.

Operations: https://operations.access-ci.org/

  1. ACCESS Operations supports the integration and operation of ACCESS cyberinfrastructure with operational support, networking and data services and cybersecurity support through the use of integration roadmaps.

    1. If you operate a resource that you would like to integrate into the ACCESS ecosystem, visit: https://operations.access-ci.org/pub/access-infrastructure-integration

  2. Fifteen students representing institutions across the country were part of the 2023 Student Training and Engagement Program (STEP) cohort that traveled to Miami in May. Students were introduced to web programming, high-performance computing, cybersecurity, networking and real use of AI as part of the two-week experience.

    1. Six participants are currently in a full-time, paid summer program and attended PEARC23! Three additional students will continue in part-time internships through the 2023-24 academic year.

Support: https://support.access-ci.org/

  1. ACCESS Support provides cost-effective, scaled support to the broad scientific community using national cyberinfrastructure.

  2. Join MatchPlus, a short-term support partnership program which pairs student facilitators with knowledgeable mentors to help researchers make use of ACCESS resources. Link: https://support.access-ci.org/matchplus

  3. Submit for a CSSN Community Engagement Program (CCEP) travel award – up to $2,500 to attend ANY conference of your choosing. CCEP is open to students, faculty and staff. Link: https://support.access-ci.org/ccep-pilot

  4. Registration for Gateways 2023 in Pittsburgh, PA on Oct. 30-Nov. 1 is currently open. This event is an opportunity for science gateways to showcase their ability to teach, empower and engage research, and provide technologies to various communities. Link: https://sciencegateways.org/gateways2023

Metrics: https://metrics.access-ci.org/

  1. The primary goal of Metrics is to monitor the usage and performance of NSF’s suite of supercomputers. The primary web-based tool to do this is XDMoD which helps center staff run their resources more efficiently, users run their code more efficiently and allows NSF to make data-based decisions on what new systems need to be built and upgraded to support the national research requirements.

  2. Software developers and data scientists can join the collaborative effort behind ACCESS Metrics and Open XDMoD. Our code, documentation and project roadmap are all accessible online.

ACO: https://access-ci.org/

  1. The ACCESS Coordination Office fosters an environment of shared governance and horizontal leadership within which program PIs work with a common purpose to create and support an inclusive and vibrant CI ecosystem focused on enabling science.

  2. ACCESS is looking to expand our services to research communities. The National Science Foundation (NSF) recently announced they're accepting proposals for a new ACCESS service area, the Cyberinfrastructure Technology Acceleration Pathway (CITAP). Proposals will be accepted until September 6, 2023.

We've recently launched a LinkedIn page for ACCESS! Give us a follow to connect with us and other HPC researchers and computing professionals in our community. Link: https://www.linkedin.com/company/accessforci
