ACCESS Allocation Services interfaces with the research community to facilitate requests to utilize advanced cyberinfrastructure provided by the NSF. Allocation Services provides an open, inviting and democratized allocations marketplace to easily request a range of resources to empower all research communities.
There are nearly 30 different resources available to request allocations for in the ACCESS ecosystem with technologies ranging from various types of CPU, GPU and storage resources, as well as novel accelerators such as FPGAs, vector processors and composable PCIe fabrics.
Maximize ACCESS allocations has moved to a semi-annual cycle for requests with the next open window beginning Dec. 15. Maximize ACCESS is for those researchers with the largest computational and data requirements.
For researchers who don’t have as-substantial resource requirements, allocations can be requested 24 hours a day and 365 days out of the year in three different project types. The first two project types require no more than one page of text detailing the objectives, a CV from the requestor and an eligibility check. Oftentimes allocation requests are approved in less than 24 hours!

ACCESS Support provides cost-effective, scaled support to the broad scientific community using national cyberinfrastructure. Support provides a knowledge base of resource materials, CI Links for curated resources, Ask. CI for active Q and A, and MatchPlus and MatchPremier for active project and researcher support.
Join MatchPlus, a short-term program which pairs researchers, students and knowledgeable mentors to help researchers make use of ACCESS resources while supporting their short term (3-6 month) projects. Students are paid a stipend of between $3,000-7,000 per engagement and the mentor receives a $2,500 travel grant to a conference of their choosing. Link: https://support.access-ci.org/matchplus

The primary goal of Metrics is to monitor the usage and performance of NSF’s suite of supercomputers. The primary web-based tool to do this is XDMoD which helps center staff run their resources more efficiently, users run their code more efficiently and allows NSF to make data-based decisions on what new systems need to be built and upgraded to support the national research requirements.
Software developers and data scientists can join the collaborative effort behind ACCESS Metrics and Open XDMoD. Our code, documentation and project roadmap are all accessible online.
In the latest version of XDMoD – 10.5 – we have introduced the Data Analytics Framework (DAF). The DAF gives data scientists API access to the historical data in the XDMoD database. The DAF uses a Jupyter Notebooks front end, giving access to all of the python data science, statistical analysis and machine learning tools. The Metrics team welcomes collaboration on analytical projects and the contribution of third party Jupyter Notebooks.
The ACCESS Coordination Office fosters an environment of shared governance and horizontal leadership within which program PIs work with a common purpose to create and support an inclusive and vibrant CI ecosystem focused on enabling science.
